Polydioxanone (PDO) are synthetic absorbable sutures and have been used safely in surgical and aesthetic practices for decades. Research shows when inserted in the scalp, they trigger an injury response which brings in new blood vessels, nutrition and releases growth factors activating the hair follicle stem cells in the hair roots.
This in turn leads to visible hair growth from 3 months onwards. Studies shows that both the hair density and hair thickness can increase in patients treated with PDO threads. The stimulating effect can last from 6-12 months as the sutures are slowly broken down and reabsorbed by the skin.
This is an effective add on to other hair growth treatments such as PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), Low Level Laser Therapy and prescription hair loss medication.
Procedure
Local anaesthetic is used to numb the scalp before the PDO threads are introduced into the skin using very small needles. The needles are then removed leaving the threads behind.
