Hair and scalp analysis in Sydney
A scalp and hair analysis can help identify the underlying cause of hair loss, which is a useful first step in determining an appropriate treatment plan. At Hair Doctors, we examine the scalp and hair for signs of inflammation, infection or other conditions that may be contributing to hair loss.
We offer detailed scalp and hair analysis using HairMetrix, a hair and scalp imaging system. As part of a consultation, the doctor provides a detailed report of your hair density, hair thickness and scalp condition. This also allows us to monitor changes in your hair and scalp over time.
Where clinically appropriate, blood tests may be used to check for nutritional or other factors that may be associated with hair loss. Together, these assessments help build an understanding of the cause of your hair loss and the treatment options that may be suitable, which your doctor will discuss with you.

A hair and scalp analysis helps us assess your hair loss and identify its likely cause, so your doctor can recommend a suitable course of action.
Wondering if a hair and scalp analysis is right for you?
What is the benefit of having a hair and scalp analysis?
A hair and scalp analysis can help identify underlying problems and determine the cause of hair loss and scalp issues.
It can provide valuable information about the health of the scalp and hair, including the presence of any scalp infections, and the presence of any environmental or lifestyle factors that may be contributing to hair loss.
It may assist practitioners in discussing suitable treatment options for identified hair or scalp concerns following assessment and consultation.
How it works
A hair and scalp analysis is performed by our doctors, who assess and help identify hair and scalp conditions. During the analysis, a range of tools and techniques may be used to examine the hair and scalp, which can include magnifying lenses, microscopes and trichoscopy, a technique that uses a device with an attached camera to provide a close-up view of the scalp.
Your doctor may also take a detailed medical history and review any medications you are currently taking. Following assessment and consultation, your doctor can discuss the likely cause of your hair loss and the treatment options that may be suitable for you.
We use the HairMetrix hair and scalp assessment system as part of the consultation and assessment process.
Who should have a hair and scalp analysis?
A hair and scalp analysis may be useful for anyone who wants to understand the health of their hair and scalp. It can be helpful for people experiencing scalp conditions such as dandruff, hair loss or psoriasis, as it can help identify underlying issues. It may also be useful for those considering hair or scalp treatments, as part of an assessment of what may be suitable.
